DEBORAH COLBORN
Deborah Colborn is an artist and occupational therapist, living in St. Michaels, on Maryland's Eastern Shore. When not working at her studio, Witt Aire Artists, she works part time with disabled children in therapeutic horseback riding (Hippotherapy) and at a pediatric out-patient clinic in Easton, MD 

The inspiration for her work comes primarily from the natural world or as abstracted concepts, reactions to music, the human figure or photographic images. Her content and style are extensive. Being relatively new to the art world and passionate about what she does, she explores as many techniques as possible. She describes her work as a "dance" between the canvas and what she feels or experiences; the brush and palate facilitate the process. She feels the same "dance" occurs when a rider truly bonds with a well-trained horse. 

Deborah expresses feelings of isolation, separateness, calmness, and its opposite, joy. She primarily paints with oils and acrylics and occasionally mixed media with spray paint, collage papers, wood and copper. 

She has studied for the past 16 years with artists in the area, such as Joe Mayer, Sung Hong, the late David Grafton, and at the Art Academy in Easton and Yellow Barn Studio, Glen Echo, MD and other out of town venues. 

She is a member of the St. Michaels Art League and the juried Main Street Coop Gallery in Cambridge, MD, and at the now dissolved Talbot Visual Arts Center. She has won awards through juried shows in the local area. She is an active participant in Partners in Art with Talbot Mentors, working one on one with at risk children on art projects.
