SHERRY DEVER
Sherry was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and currently living in Cambridge, MD.
Sherry’s passion for drawing and painting began in high school, with every free period devoted to art. She was given a realistic foundation which has helped in developing who she is today as an artist. Being taught in the traditional sense, has allowed her the discipline and focus to evolve and push herself to where she is today. The freedom to paint what she feels.
Currently, her focus is abstract expressionism, working in both acrylic and oil. Sherry finds the freedom of painting strokes of emotion on a canvas in abstraction exhilarating. The movement of the paint; the energy and feeling it exudes is what she strives for every day in her studio.
Sherry has always been drawn to Matisse and Pollock for their lack of fear and their bold, emotional strokes - be it in blocks, lines or color. Their willingness to evolve as artists is what she feels led them to greatness.
